Carlos

At what level is Carlos (below) functioning? Is this acceptable work for a 6th grader? For an 8th grader or a 10th grader? What does his writing reveal about his knowledge of English and mechanics? Based on his writing what assumptions can you make about his ability to function in a grade-level class or subject? If you can’t make any assumptions, what further information would you need? What assignments could you give Carlos to improve his level of functioning and move him to the next level? What specifically (reading, more writing, vocabulary, and so on) does he need to move ahead?
